Why Sleep Train?

Sleep deprivation can be hugely destructive in a family and can have a serious impact on all aspects of your life. Aside from the obvious exhaustion that a broken sleep pattern brings, it can cause a breakdown in relationships and see many marriages fall apart. Often there can be depression for one or both parents, irreparable damage to careers and loss of jobs. Worst of all driving whilst sleep deprived at this level is a major cause of many fatal accidents.

Additionally, babies and young children that do not achieve the correct amount of sleep on a daily basis could have seriously detrimental long term effects on their brain development and will most certainly not flourish in the way they could. Some children even end up medicated when behavioural sleep training could’ve been implemented instead!

Cognitive Development

Sleep is vital for cognitive and emotional health. It plays a huge role in child development- cognitive, physical and social/ emotional. Better sleep leads to better control of emotions. Sleep is also restorative as we conserve energy. Both cell division and replenishment take place during sleep and also memory consolidation. Growth hormones are secreted in young children during certain sleep stages which is why we need them to sleep soundly and transition through these stages.

Health & Wellbeing

Sleep deprived families often have weaker immune systems which can lead to regular illness and can also contribute towards poor mental health. A family that is sleeping well will have many benefits overall. They will interact in a more positive way, communicate better and most importantly- enjoy each others company so much more!
